Rt. Rev. Msgr. Peter Kochery’s 75th birthday celebration

The Platinum Jubilee (75th Birthday) of Rt. Rev. Msgr. Peter Kochery was celebrated on October 28, 2018 under the auspices of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy. The celebration was held in conjunction with Bishop’s day and began with the Holy Mass at 10:30 am at St. Vincent de Paul Cathedral Church. Bishop’s Day celebration

On October 28, 2018, the Eparchy celebrated Bishop’s Day. October 28 marks the first anniversary of His Excellency Most Rev.Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos’ installation as the Eparchial Bishop. During this short period, His Excellency has made a tremendous impact on all of us. The Eparchy has been touched by his warmth, exemplary leadership and deep spiritual teachings. New Pastor in Yonkers: Fr.Mathew (Liju) Thomas Thundiyil

Rev Fr. Mathew Thomas Thundiyil has been appointed the new Pastor of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church in Yonkers on September 23,2018. Fr. Mathew celebrated the Holy Mass and a brief meeting was held by the Yonkers parish formally welcoming him. His Excellency Most Rev.Dr.Philipos Mar Stephanos gave the opening felicitation and officially installed Father Mathew as the new Pastor for the Yonkers church. Father Mathew hails from the Archdiocese of Tiruvalla. The Eparchy extends him a hearty welcome and God’s blessings in his assignment in the Eparchy.

Appointment of Rev. Fr. Baby Madathikunnathu in Calgary.

His Excellency Most Rev. Philipos Mar Stephanos has appointed Rev. Fr. Baby Madathikunnathu as the new Pastor of St. Jude Syro-Malankara Catholic Church of Calgary. He took charge of the parish on September 29,2018. Fr. Baby Madathikunnathu replaces Rev. Fr. John Kuriakose who has been serving St. Jude Syro-Malankara Catholic Church of Calgary as its Pastor for the past three years. The Eparchy extends a hearty welcome to Fr. Baby Madathikunnath and wish him God's blessings. Fr. Baby hails from the diocese of Moovattupuzha.

Rev. Fr. John (Daiju) Kuriakose’s farewell

Rev. Fr. John Kuriakose has been serving as Pastor of St. Jude Syro-Malankara Catholic Church of Calgary for the three years. Rev. Fr. John is relieved of his responsibilities in the Mission on September 28,2018. The Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy in USA and Canada remains deeply indebted to Rev. Fr. John Kuriakose for the remarkable pastoral leadership that he gave to the mission and also for his generous cooperation and assistance to the common activities and Apostolates of the Exarchate.

Rev. Jerry Mathew Licentiate in Rome

The Bishop of the Eparchy, Most Rev. Philipose Mar Stephanos, has sent Rev. Jerry Mathew to do his Licentiate in Rome on Youth Ministry. He will be studying at the University of Salesian Pontifical University and he will be staying at the Casa Santa Maria – Pontifical North American College. He left for Rome on Thursday, August 16, 2018.

Father Jerry Mathew was the pastor in St.Mary's Syro Malankara Catholic Church, Yonkers and the National MCYM Director of the Eparchy. The Eparchy wishes him all the very best in his studies.

Brother Jobin receives the Minor Order of Heupadyakno

Philipose Mar Stephanos, conferred the minor order of Heupadyakno to the Eparchy’s seminarian, Jobin Thomas, on the Feast of Assumption (Wednesday, August 15, 2018). The Family Apostolate of the Eparchy has launched a matrimonial website to help our young adults in finding their spouse. New MCYMNA Board Elected

The new board members for the Malankara Catholic Youth Movement - North America were elected on August 4, 2018. The elections were held during the 10th Syro-Malankara Catholic Convention held at Stamford, Connecticut. Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos, the bishop of the Eparchy, and Fr. Jerry Mathew, the director of MCYMNA, were present during the election along with all the youth participants of the convention. Priests' Retreat held at Don Bosco Retreat Center

The priests of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy had their annual retreat from August 5 to 10 at the Don Bosco Retreat Center, Rockland. His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos and 18 priests participated in the retreat. The retreat was directed by His Excellencies Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius, Most Rev. Dr. Yoohanon Mar Theodosius, and Most Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Makarios on the topics of Priest as a shepherd, teacher, and formator. The participants had an enriching and renewing experience and helped the retreatants to spend time in prayer and reflection.
