MCCL Retreat - July 29, 2020

The Department of Catechism - Faith Formation is organizing a half-day virtual retreat for the MCCL children on Wednesday, July 29 from 12 PM to 3 PM Eastern Standard Time. The theme is based on St. John 6: 27 and the great moto of Servant of God Mar Ivanios “Earning God is better than serving God.” Please see the flyer attached for further details.

Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Michael Edathil and Rev. Fr. Jerry Mathew who have successfully completed their Licentiate studies. Fr. Michael received his Licentiate in Sacred Theology of Marriage & Family from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute in Washington, D.C., and Fr. Jerry received his Licentiate in Theology with specialization in Youth Ministry from the University of Salesian Pontifical University.

Mar Ivanios Day was celebrated at St. Vincent De Paul Cathedral, Elmont on July 12, 2020. The Solemn Memorial Qurbono was celebrated by His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos, the bishop of the Eparchy, and was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Noby Ayyaneth, the Cathedral Rector, and Rev. Fr. Jobin Thomas. After the Holy Qurbono, Rev. Fr. New Initiative by the Youth Empowerment & Integration Commission of the Pastoral Council

Extraordinary Urbi et Orbi Blessing from Pope Francis on March 27

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pope Francis will offer an extraordinary blessing of Urbi et Orbi on Friday, March 27, 2020, at 1 PM Eastern Time (6 p.m. Rome time). All those who are present for the blessing via TV, radio or the internet, and who are truly sorry for their sins, can have the possibility of receiving a plenary indulgence.
